Taoyuan, Taiwan, April 7, 2005 - BenQ today announced its consolidated revenue for the month of March; sales and shipment saw increases over most product lines. The company's core business recorded sales of NT$ 11.8 billion, up 22% month-on-month.
BenQ's LCD monitors posted strong growth in March in terms of sales and unit shipment. Driven by continuing strong demand for LCD monitors, the company shipped over 800,000 units this month, hitting a new record high. "Following the launch in November, 2004 of BenQ's FP91E, the world's first 19-inch LCD monitor to feature record-fast 8ms gray-to-gray response time, we are launching faster, higher-performance models in the first quarter," according to Alex Liou, BenQ's Controller and Spokesperson. Shipment of DVD RW drives also grew on a month-on-month basis. Overall shipment, however, was constrained by a shortage of optical pick-up heads. For the month of March, the company shipped slightly less than two million units.
"Our China operations continued to make strides in March. BenQ's LCD monitors, storage products, handsets, Joybooks and MP3 players all achieved record highs in volume terms," continued Mr. Liou, "and we are confident our business in China is well positioned for further profit growth as BenQ now boasts a stronger line-up of stylish, high-performance products, upgraded channel infrastructure, and a much stronger team with which to execute our strategy."
